Newspaper Article

WALT: Write an article about Jump Rope For Heart to be published to the local newspaper.

Glen Innes School joining Jump Rope for Heart

by Sajiha Askar

Glen Innes School were doing their Jump Rope for Heart at Glen Innes Centre on the 27th of June 2013. Glen Innes School is very close to Glen Innes Shopping Centre, so they walked down there to show off their skipping routines and also entertain the shoppers.

“WOW”. That’s what all the people in GI centre said. Even the parents and the shopkeepers who were working there. They just could not wait to see the children performing.

Glen Innes School had been practising their skipping routines since the beginning of the term. They had all been waiting for this day patiently. All the classes were looking forward to perform.

When they all arrived there, some students had excited faces where the other students had such nervous faces. All the students had a turn to skip, hop, jump and have extremely fun with each other. It started from Room 1 all the way to Room 12. There were different routines, styles and a variety of music played. They all did great no matter what age they were.

A really helpful company, called South Pacific Loans provided the school with skipping ropes, flags and banners. This is not the first time they have been helping the school.  They have done this for a number of years.

Even some of the parents had a turn to skip with their children. That was a really fun competition for the parents. The parent who skipped the longest won a milkshake voucher from one of the shops in Glen Innes Centre. A very healthy mother got the prize. She was really proud of herself.

At the end, everyone enjoyed and looking forward for another day like this next year.

Sumdog

 Sumdog
Sumdog is an online game that most people love to play. This game teaches me a lot of stuff like, times tables, fractions, halves and lots more.  There are so many games to choose from but Dress down is my favourite game.
I was checking how well I know my 12 times table and I got all the questions correct.  At the end you can vote for anyone (except yourself) who you think dressed the best. Isn't that fun?

What causes the Seasons?

What causes the Seasons?

Do you know how many Seasons there are? Do you know anything about Seasons? Well I do. I know a lot but it would take me so long to write everything. So I will just tell you some of them.

First of all, there are four Seasons, Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring.  In Summer it is hot and this is the season when everyone is on holiday and having fun. In Autumn, it starts to get colder and leaves start to fall from trees. Finally Winter. In Winter, it is very cold and all the trees are bare. Everyone is at home drinking hot chocolate and sleeping. Then Spring. In Spring, it starts to get warm and  trees start to grow leaves. Then the season cycle starts all over again.

What causes the Seasons? The Seasons are caused by the tilt of the Earth’s rotational axis away or toward the sun as it travels through its year-long path around the sun.

Earth rotates on its axis as it orbits the Sun, but the axis is always pointing the same direction.

We have hot summers and cold winters because of the tilt of the Earth’s rotation.

At different times of the year, the sun's rays hit different parts of the globe more directly. This means that when one half of Earth is having Summer, the other half will be having Winter. It also means that when one half of Earth is having Autumn, the other will be having Spring.

The angle of the Earth's axis tilts the Northern Hemisphere towards the sun during the summer.

We have Seasons because the Earth is tilted at an angle of 23.5 degrees. This means the Earth is always pointing to one side of the sun as it goes around the Sun.

So that’s all I know about Seasons. And I hope you liked my report. Maybe next time I can tell you more about Seasons.
